William James Quotes
Life and Attitude

Hi Guys! So I thought I would share with you one of my favorite quotes, it is a quote by William James, an American philosopher. It deals with the subject of life and how much control we actually have!

This quote is quite inspirational. It states that you have more power and impact on yourself that you may have thought possible. This quote highlights the fact that the way you think of yourself and others can greatly affect your achievements in life. This is because we act based on how we feel.

If you have a low self-esteem or always tell yourself that you cannot do something, you may find that you really are not able to. It's amazing how much we empower ourselves by thinking positive thoughts and preserving. Once you start to push yourself and encourage yourself you see that you are able to overcome obstacles that you never thought possible.

Its all mind games.  It's also about blocking out the negatives. You will most likely not be able to control what others say about you, and definitely not what they think about you. But you don't have to distract yourself with all that 'background' noise. It is unnecessary and can stop you from reaching your goals.

It's about staying balanced. Using the constructive criticism that others give you, but not holding grudges or the negative messages that may at times arise. And it is indeed appropriate to term this personal development process as 'the greatest discovery', because it is something that is often taken for granted or underestimated. People do not always comprehend the wonderful things that can come about when you just slightly alter your viewpoint.

Open mindedness opens opportunity.

Here is another quote from William James which is very much related:

This quote is about self confidence. A person who is determined and believes in themselves will work hard, then they will achieve what they had set out to do. It all starts with the belief and faith that you are worth something.

It also involves personal contentment and a mind that is at peace with its surroundings. Success lies in the appreciation of ones life. If you are thankful about where you are at the moment and sense that you are actually privileged to be alive it will be much easier to carry on doing great things that you can be proud of.

This will keep you going, even when things are tough. When you see the overall picture and how you have developed as a person, you will be ready to move and and just keep on improving.  You do not have to rely on the experience of others, even though it can be helpful.  Situations are constantly evolving and dreams and aspirations are being realized.

Just because it hasn't been done yet doesn’t mean that it can't be done. If you keep focused on what you would like to attain and continually work at it, it will be done. There will always be a pioneer of every field, and there are still many spaces for resolute minds.

This quote by William James says that you should not lose hope, because victory starts with the belief. Once the belief is there the actions will take root. And with hope that was there at the start you can create the life you want for yourself.

I hope you enjoyed reading my page, looking through some William James quotes and how the messages behind then can help to transform the way a person functions, for the better.
