5 Things Highly Successful People Do

and How To Copy...

How do our role models do it? How can you increase your success and see results? These are 5 Things That Highly Successful People do to get where they are and stay there.

1.       They Create Their Own Reality

Many times we hear how rare certain things are and then we tell ourselves those feats are impossible.

No one has done it so I can’t do it. Or everyone seems to think that takes a superhuman amount of  work so I couldn’t possibly achieve it.

  • Successful people look past this and just get on with it.
  • They don’t just sit around and wait for opportunities to jump out of nowhere, they create the right environment and work hard to get where they want.

They create their own reality.

There’s no waiting around for things to just happen. Successful people actively seek ways to reach their goals and are alert.

It is in the decisions they make. They are aware that success comes by design so there’s no use in just hoping it will appear out of nowhere. There are awake and conscious in the connections they make, the bridges they build and what they say and do.

  • Another important aspect is this: Successful people don’t go around blaming everyone and everything when things don’t go as their plan.
  • The blame game distracts us from the issues at hand, and to be very honest, it is a flimsy way of acknowledging setbacks.

Successful people don’t moan about their circumstances and give it as an excuse. They do not blame genetics, circumstances, people or mentalities for their behavior. They choose to take responsibility.

It is quite interesting how we blame others during moments of crisis, but fully attribute all the marvellous results to ourselves in times of success. Successful people choose to have responsibility for the full length of the journey.

If it is raining, they don’t blame the weather for their ‘bad day’ or lack of motivation. They create the environment they want by their attitude.

Successful people realize that every situation, every moment, gives them a new choice. A perfect opportunity to produce positive results by doing things differently.

Their success is based on their drive and perseverance not external events.

2. They See the End right from the Start

It is all about Vision and Maximising your imagination.

Successful people begin the journey with the end in mind.

  • They have a clear picture of where they want to be in the next 6 months.. one year.. 5 years and then take the steps needed to get there.

After all if you have no idea where you want to be, any road will take you there. You will go round and round in circles, or even worse- lose focus.

To be successful you have to see yourself in your paradise, imagine and envision your perfect life, then work back.

Work back and trace the steps up to your present moment. How exactly do you reach your success? Think carefully and make a specific plan. Follow it. And never lose sight of that plan.

  • Why is it so important to begin with the end in mind?

Beginning with the end in mind ensures accuracy. It ensures you are really going in the direction you need to. It does not rely on a vague sense of direction, but rather a full understanding. It means you will hit the nail right on the head and not just beside it.

If you don’t make a deliberate effort to visualize who you are and what your desired destination is, then your life will be running on default.

What is your personal mission statement? Think of a short paragraph that describes what you want to achieve as a person. Write the final outcome, then trace the steps to connect your present to your future.

3. They Never Stop Learning

Learning is such an important process. It means that you keep on growing. And you can never stop learning.

There’s something new and original to be discovered every single day. This is something that successful people understand and so they devote themselves to lifelong learning.

The moment you become overconfident is the moment things start to go the wrong way.

Experience needs to be built on and a successful person is willing to learn from the experts and absorb all the crucial tips and techniques.

Lifelong learning can be defined as the ‘ongoing, voluntary and self-motivated pursuit of knowledge.’ Learning and acting on your findings increases your rate of success dramatically. You discover the common obstacles that people face on the path you tread, and you learn how to avoid them.

When you are committed to progress, you learn efficiency. Not how to do something well, but how to do it excellently. Soaking up knowledge hungrily, puts you in a position to be the best you can possibly be..

  • An important thing to remember is that the best kind of learning is not just academic or professional learning.
  • It’s learning how to be stronger as a person. Learning how to develop positive relationships and how to handle disappointment.

You are never to young to learn, and you are never to old to stop learning.

4. They Make Room for the Most Important

Successful people put first things first, and they are realistic.

There are so many things to do in the 24 hours we all have in a day, so the absolute only way you can be successful is by doing 2 simple yet often difficult tasks: removing the unnecessary and making the important your priority.

To remain balanced and sane, you’ve got to figure out what is worth spending all your time on, and what is not.

At times it can be quite hard to choose, especially when you feel that all your tasks require urgent attention. But many times, we can allot a separate time for things that are not top priority.

  • It’s not productive when we overwork ourselves, all the while engaging in activities that bring us no real benefit.
  •  Time is a very valuable resource, it is something that makes us all equal. We are all given the same amount of time, and it’s up to us to make it count.

  • Putting things first involves learning to say no when you sense that saying yes could be a waste of time.
  • When you are able to put first things first, you may soon realise that you can accomplish more- with less effort.

5. They cut the noise and collect the pearls

Every day, we are bombarded with opinions. And not all of them are honest, not all of them are useful.

Sometimes we get discouraged and our plans get disapproved by people who don’t want to see us moving too fast, or becoming too successful.

One important thing that highly successful people make sure to do is not getting distracted by the naysayers.

  • Successful people listen, but are able to distinguish between good advice and nonconstructive comments.
  • They are able to find the pearls from all kind of feedback, and it makes them do better.

It does no good to surround yourself with those who try to belittle your goals. Mark Twain once said that small people do that, but the really great make you feel that you too, can become great.

  • The people who you surround yourself with can either be your biggest support, or really hinder you.
  • The person you will be in 5 years is based on the books you read and the people you surround yourself with today.

So cut out the unnecessary background noise, find the gems and follow helpful mentors.
